Scott S. Thomas was graduated in 1995 with a J.D. cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, as well as in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from BYU in Political Science and with Minors in Spanish, Philosophy, and Music. In law school, he was Executive Editor of the BYU Journal of Public Law, a member of the Trial Advocacy team, and Best Oralist in the First-Year Moot Court Competition in Torts.
Scott is a Partner and heads the Northern Utah Office of KKO. He has practiced law for over 15 years in Washington, D.C., Georgia, Idaho, and Utah with regional, national, and international law firms and as in-house counsel for an emerging technology company. Scott’s expertise lies in corporate law with an emphasis on business and estate planning; trial and appellate litigation; products liability, pharmaceutical, chemical, toxic torts, and aviation law; general counsel and corporate secretary functions; corporate governance and counseling; emerging company finance; contracts; employment law; M&A due diligence; risk management; government relations; intellectual property (trademark and copyright); employee benefits planning & administration; and divorce and family law.
