Hill & Plakias is one of the oldest law firms in continuous operation in Norfolk County. The firm was originally formed in Dedham in 1885 under the name of MacIntosh and Hill. Dean P. Plakias and Michael K. Terry continue the firm’s tradition of providing quality, innovative and consistent service to our clients. Michael is a professional problem solver. The focus of his practice is in civil litigation, including appellate work, in the areas of commercial disputes, real estate and construction law, personal injury and family law matters. Michael represents a wide range of businesses and individuals and regularly assists his clients in resolving disputes through negotiation, arbitration and mediation. A seasoned trial attorney, he has tried cases in the state District, Superior, Probate and Land Courts and in the Federal District Courts. A representative sample of Michael's recent trial work follows: Won and collected a six-figure judgment on behalf of a cleint in a breach of contract action after trial in the Superior Court.Successfully defended a residential building contractor in a district court jury trial.Obtained a six-figure settlement on behalf of a client who suffered lead paint poisoning as a child.Successfully defended a corporate client in a district court jury trial.Successfully argued an appeal on behalf of a corporate client in a case arising under the Uniform Commercial Code. Won a trial in New York Federal Court, successfully defending a small business client against trademark infringement claims brought against it by Starbucks Coffee. Michael also has extensive experience in all aspects of commecial and residential real property transactions and has served on his town's Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Conservation Commission. Michael received a Bachelor's degree from Castleton State College in Vermont where he was born and raised and is a 1995 cum laude graduate of Suffolk University Law School in Boston. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Norfolk Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.
