Cliff has extensive experience in the field of intellectual property. He has a background in aerospace engineering and graduated magna cum laude from the George Mason University School of Law. Cliff spent several years managing a heavy patent and trademark docket at an IP boutique firm in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia, before moving on to found Hyra IP, PLC and eventually merging his practice into Symbus Law Group. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia and the District of Columbia and to represent clients located anywhere in the country, and overseas, before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Cliff specializes in patent and trademark prosecution (applying for and obtaining patents and trademark registrations) and has prosecuted hundreds of patent and trademark applications. He also drafts patent and trademark opinions, negotiates the settlement of IP disputes, conducts trademark cancellation and opposition proceedings, registers copyrights, carries out appeals to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (BPAI), Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, resolves domain name disputes, conducts patent and trademark searches, drafts intellectual property-related contracts and agreements, and more.
