Update: Newsmaking “Occupy Wall St.” trademark effort is abandoned

The "Occupy Wall Street" movement is popularly perceived as being anti-corporate.  As such, when someone tried to register a trademark for "Occupy Wall St.", it received a flurry of news coverage, for the irony if nothing else.  This article notes the express abandonment of the trademark application which was filed with the USPTO, and recapitulates some of the obstacles anyone will face if they try to register a trademark for some piece of the "Occupy" movement.
