There’s No Need to Give Employees a Probationary Period

Many employers put new employees on a limited probationary period, during which their performance is reviewed to determine whether or not the employer will retain them for a longer period.  Although this practice facially seems advantageous to the employer, this article explains why and how offering employees probationary periods can lead to employer obligations beyond what they wanted.
