Recent Settlement Under COPPA is Largest Penalty Ever Imposed by the FCC

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) restricts the information you can collect about children's activities online, subject to some exceptions, and also requires other standards of websites which children frequent.  In this blog post, William Galkin notes the potentially severe liabilities which can strike non-COPPA-compliant websites, as a company in the Disney umbrella entered into a large settlement with the FCC.  The key takeaway, according to Mr. Galkin, is to make sure to be aware of what regulations apply to your internet business.
