The spread of smartphones and the ease with which developers can write apps for those smartphones raises significant privacy concerns--many users of these apps do not have any idea which personal data of theirs is collected by the apps. This article highlights an attempt by the Mobile Marketing Association ("MMA") to develop a privacy policy framework to help developers make privacy disclosures to mobile application users.
