Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, and an Estate Planning Wake-up Call

March 21, 2011

Steven Fromm uses the untimely, unexpected deaths of Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett to illustrate the importance of making sure one's estate plan is kept up to date.  An out of date or poorly thought out estate plan can thwart the wishes of the deceased and embroil their heirs in contentious litigation.

Mr. Fromm illustrates how the lack of an updated estate plan could negatively impact the deceased's children.  He also shows how any gifts the deceased wished to make could either not be carried out or negatively impact remaining heirs.  Further, any trusts which the deceased set up need to be provided for in an estate plan.  Using highly-public figures such as Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett, Mr. Fromm drives home the need for a current estate plan.
