Crowdfunding has gained in awareness and (arguably) popularity with the recent Congressional deliberations over and proposals of a crowdfunding exemption in the federal securities laws. This article highlights a different (yet conceptually similar) means of business funding--loca-investing, which aims to connect investors with businesses seeking capital in their geographic region.
