Death tax or not – You still need an Estate Plan

In this blog post, Arieh Flemenbaum details the importance and desirability of having an estate plan, whether the estate tax is in effect or not.  Estate plans allow one to control the fate of one's assets after death; the alternative looks to state law.  More sophisticated estate plans can provide incentives for your heirs to fulfill your goals after your death.  Also, if you have children not yet of age, an estate plan can provide for details of their care until they reach majority.  Beyond this, estate planning can help your heirs avoid the expense and unpredictability of probate court.
