Courts view Forum/Venue Selection Clauses in online user agreements presumed valid

Forum selection clauses (also known as venue selection clauses) are common to form contracts, and specify the jurisdiction(s) in which litigation can be brought pursuant to the contract.  The rise of the internet has led to new questions about these contracts, as people from all over the country (or, in fact, the world) can be forced to file suit in a prohibitively inconvenient court to take advantage of any legal remedies to which they are entitled.  This article reviews several recent cases upholding forum selection clauses for online businesses' user agreements.
