Richard Jefferson writes about a little-known feature of the United States Copyright Act. As Mr. Jefferson explains it, the Act contains a feature which allows authors of content to reclaim the ownership of product which they created. Basically, the Act allows authors to reclaim their rights and renegotiate any deal disposing of those rights after 35 years. Since the Act was passed in 1978, beginning in 2013, creators of content which some might call "retro" but which nonetheless remains popular may recoup a further gain from their creations, thanks to the power identified by Mr. Jefferson.
